These terms govern your use of EduA11y, available at edua11y.org(the “Service”). By creating an account or uploading a document you agree to them. If you are using the Service on behalf of a school or organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it to these terms.
1. What the Service does
EduA11y is an automated PDF accessibility remediation service. You upload a PDF, and our system produces a new version of that PDF with a tag structure, reading order, headings, lists, table markup, image alt text, document metadata, and, for scanned pages, a searchable text layer. The goal is a document that works with screen readers and supports WCAG and ADA compliance efforts.
Remediation is performed by automated systems, including AI models. Results are typically ready within a few hours, and we email you when a file is done. We do not guarantee that any output meets a specific legal or accessibility standard. You are responsible for reviewing the remediated document before relying on it.
2. Accounts
You sign in with an email address and a one-time code. Keep access to that inbox secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service.
3. Pricing and payment
- The price is $5 USD per PDF. All prices are in US dollars.
- You are charged when you submit a document for remediation. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card number. Stripe's handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
- Prices may change. Any change applies only to documents submitted after the change is posted on this site.
- Any applicable sales tax is shown at checkout and added to the price.
4. Refunds and cancellation
Our Refund and Cancellation Policy is part of these terms. In short: if we cannot process your file, you are refunded automatically; if the result is unusable, contact us within 30 days and we will re-run it or refund you.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the documents you upload and to the remediated versions we produce. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your documents solely to provide the Service to you, including sending them to the third-party processing and AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy.
You agree not to upload documents that:
- you do not have the right to copy and process;
- contain malware or are designed to interfere with the Service;
- contain regulated data we have not agreed in writing to handle, such as protected health information under HIPAA or full payment card numbers.
Student records covered by FERPA may be uploaded when you are permitted to share them with a service provider acting on your institution's behalf. Contact us if your institution needs a data processing agreement.
6. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to access other users' files, probe or overload our systems, reverse engineer the Service, or resell it without our written permission. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Storage and deletion
Uploaded and remediated files stay in your account until you delete them from your dashboard. You can delete any file at any time. We may delete files and close accounts that have been inactive for more than 12 months after emailing you a notice.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that remediated documents will satisfy any accessibility law, standard, or audit.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EduA11y is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the document giving rise to the claim.
10. Changes to the Service or these terms
We may change the Service or these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and we will email account holders when the change affects pricing or your rights. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which EduA11y is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located there, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
